Battlestar Galactica (the 2003-2009 series) had a short lived prequel, Caprica, 2010.

In this series, in Caprica before the Fall to the Cylons, there was a darker virtual world (almost a mirror image of Stephenson’s original Snow Crash) accessible through a special virtual reality hardware (Holobands), called New Cap City.
